After years of loyal service from my TM5, I’ve finally upgraded to the brand-new Thermomix TM7. And wow, it’s a noticeable step up. I wanted to share my first impressions and highlight the key differences for anyone wondering whether the upgrade is worth it.

Quieter Operation

One of the first things I noticed is how much quieter the TM7 is compared to the TM5. Whether it’s kneading dough, chopping, or steaming, the sound level is much more subtle. That makes a big difference if you’ve got kids, a busy household, or you like to cook at night without waking anyone.

Integrated Touch Screen

The TM7 has a larger, sleeker, fully integrated touch screen. It feels more responsive and modern, with everything you need in one place, from guided cooking to browsing recipes. Navigation is quicker, clearer, and smoother.

Smarter Wi-Fi Connectivity

The TM7 connects seamlessly to 5 GHz Wi-Fi networks, so you’re no longer restricted to 2.4 GHz like with the TM5. This means faster, more stable connections for browsing Cookidoo, downloading recipes, and keeping your machine up to date.

Integrated Glider Board

No more lifting and dragging the machine across the bench. The TM7 comes with a built-in glider board so you can effortlessly slide it forward and back when you’re cooking. It’s a small change, but it makes daily use far more practical and kind to your benchtops.

Smaller Base, Sleeker Look

The TM7 has a more compact footprint than the TM5, which means it sits neatly on the bench and takes up less space. The updated design also looks more modern, something I don’t mind showing off in the kitchen.

Other Improvements Worth Noting

Enhanced scales – The TM7 is more precise, weighing in 1 g increments for greater accuracy when baking or portioning.

Improved safety features – The locking arms are smoother and more secure, giving extra peace of mind.

More powerful motor – Still energy-efficient but with better torque, meaning faster results on tough jobs.

Updated modes – With extra cooking functions built in, you can do even more without needing separate appliances.

Final Thoughts

If you’ve been on the fence about upgrading, the TM7 is a clear leap forward from the TM5. The improvements aren’t just cosmetic — they genuinely make day-to-day cooking easier, faster, and quieter. Small but important touches like 5 GHz Wi-Fi connectivity, the integrated glider board, and the more accurate scales are everyday game-changers.

I’ll be putting together a video soon showing the TM5 and TM7 side by side so you can see (and hear) the difference for yourself. Keep an eye out for that, and if you’ve got questions about the new features, let me know in the comments.
